Background of the Study:

Customer retention strategies are vital for sustaining market performance in highly competitive industries such as telecommunications. Telecom providers in Kaduna have adopted a range of retention strategies, including personalized service plans, loyalty rewards, and proactive customer support, to mitigate churn and enhance overall market share (Adeniyi, 2023). By focusing on long-term customer relationships, these strategies aim to not only retain existing customers but also attract new ones through positive word-of-mouth and improved brand reputation. The dynamic telecom sector demands that providers continually innovate their retention approaches to keep pace with technological advancements and evolving consumer expectations. Effective retention strategies have a direct impact on revenue stability and market performance by reducing the cost of customer acquisition and increasing customer lifetime value. This study examines the effectiveness of various customer retention strategies employed by a telecom provider in Kaduna, analyzing how these initiatives influence market performance and competitive positioning (Ibrahim, 2024).

Statement of the Problem

Despite the implementation of numerous customer retention strategies, telecom providers in Kaduna often struggle to quantify their impact on overall market performance. The lack of standardized metrics to measure retention outcomes and their correlation with market share poses significant challenges for strategic planning. There is a need to evaluate which retention strategies are most effective in reducing churn and enhancing market performance. This study seeks to address this gap by providing empirical evidence on the relationship between retention initiatives and market success (Chinwe, 2023).
